The Fall 2006 Newsletter is Here!

Vista Neighborhood Association Newsletter

November, 2006
Volume 1, Issue5

Hello Everyone,

Well the year is coming to an end and it’s time for our Annual Meeting. We will meet on Tuesday Dec 5, 2006 at 6:30PM at the First Presbyterian Church at 1350 Amador Street in the Sanctuary. It is vital that as many of you that can attend to come so we may conduct elections for the Board. In order to carry on with our mission, we need as many as possible there.

The Events Committee has been the only real committee in action this past year; kudos to Julie Lyons and friends. We are looking for people who would like to organize the Traffic, School and Crime committees. Traffic is still a problem with speeding and not stopping at stop signs. I have not heard of problems with students, except for the litter that seems to come with them. Things have been decidedly more quiet in the neighborhood since our organization was formed and reports of vandalism is way down. Since living on Valle Vista, I have noticed a more pronounced police presence.

For those of you who have not looked at our website, www.vistaneighbor.com, you are missing something that we owe Mark Hutchins a great amount of thanks for. He has added links to various sites that are helpful in reporting problems to the city via email. This is very handy for code violations, and you can also contact the Police Department as well as Public Works.

I have received requests from some other neighborhood associations to meet with them and see if we can help each other. Washington Park and Vallejo Architectural Heritage Foundation have shown the most interest. We might consider a committee on Advocacy in the city.

Thank you for your financial support and participation in the various Vista events during 2006.

I hope you all have a happy holiday and a wonderful new year.

Rich Martinez
