Announcement from the Events Committee. Save the date of August 7th (Tuesday) for our National Night Out neighborhood party. As usual, it will be held on the 200 block of El Camino Real, from 6pm to approximately 9pm. You can sign up for the dish you will be bringing (one per family) and drop off your $5/person donation at Susan Wentworth's home at 241 El Camino Real. There will be a clipboard on her utility meter to the right of her garage door. Please drop your money off in her mail box, do not clip to the clipboard. Every year this fun event grows, we expect to have well over a hundred neighbors this year. Susan will be putting out the sign-up sheet/clipboard starting 7/15. We will be distributing flyers announcing the NNO party in the next few weeks.
For those of you who may be attending the party for the first time, we rent chairs and tables and block off the 200 block of El Camino Real (via city permit) for the event. Three bbq's are set up for hamburgers and hot dogs (a couple of volunteers man the bbq's.) Every one has a great time talking to their near and far Vista neighbors. The police and fire departments usually pay our neighborhood a visit and talk to the kids (and adults).
If you have any questions regarding National Night Out in the Vista, please email Events Chair, Julie Lyons at artdecolady@sbcglobal.net
P.S. the $5 donation covers the hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and table and chair rentals. If you are Vegan, we usually keep an area of one of the bbq's free of animal products, let one of the cooks know you would like to cook your vegan meal on one of the "clean" grills.
