Hi, I received this today from a Officer with another agency with some good advice. Rich Rich, Without using my name, I'd like to make a comment. I am an Officer with another agency (not Vallejo) and I think this person did exactally the correct thing. Even an Officer when off duty is trained to be careful about getting directly involved. The best help we can all be is to be a good witness. Five to one are not good odds for anyone especially without a radio of defensive weapons. To get any more involved than this person did would have just added one more victim. This person stopped the crime, rescued the victims, and gave the police the information they needed to apprehend those responsible. That deserves a "well done" from me. |

Neighborhood Alert feedback Thats Important
Neighborhood Alert
Hi, I received this on Monday February 2nd, I beleive this person did the right thing, we have to help out innocent young people that are in the neighborhood and keep an eye out for the others. Rich Good morning Rich, I had hesitated making this known because I always hope these are isolated incidents. But it seems such a pattern now and we all must be aware and speak up when possible. Last week, 3:00pm, I was driving up Milita toward my house. As I pulled up I heard screaming and a commotion around corner on Loma Vista. I turned the corner and observed 5 black females, assaulting 2 much smaller Filipino girls. When they saw me they stopped and walked right toward me. I admit I was afraid but I pulled down to the 2 girls and asked if they wanted to get in my car. They did and were crying and shaking and asked to go back to the school. They were 7th graders at Vjo Middle and the 5 other girls were from the high school. The older girls had jumped them and were trying to take their purses and cell phones. When I dropped them off I called VPD and described what happened. As I went up Nebraska back to my home I came face to face with the 5 girls again, They tried to hide their faces but were walking back toward school, not at all concerned. I went around the block to watch for the police and as I came up Illinois, I met them again! I called VPD again, described new location, and I was told officers were on their way. I had to be at work so I did leave, not sure what happened after that. I am shocked that this would take place in broad daylight, in our neighborhood, with witnesses and without any fear of consequences. Maybe I should have done more but I must say I was very shaken. Just wanted to share...any suggestions what else I might have done. |

Neighborhood Alert
Hi, I received this on late on February 18Th, this neighbor did exactly what he should do. He watched out for his neighbor while maintaining his safety, we should thank the Sheriff's office for the quick response. Good Evening Rich, I didn't have plans to communicate with you so quickly on more neighborhood issues. I just witnessed one of the tenants on Indiana Street get mugged, robbed and assaulted. Victim was outside his home smoking a cigarette as always and was approached by 8-9 young black men around 9:30pm; all juveniles & or young black adults were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and dark colored clothing. I had just returned from the 24 HOUR GYM and was pulling into my driveway when I observed this act of cowardliness and violence. Ironically I saw this same group walking North on Amador at 8:05pm towards the High School, as I left earlier. I was already walking up the stairs to my house when I heard the victim get attacked. I shouted loud and clear, hey, hey, the Police has been called as I cautiously watched my own safety from 350 feet away! I dialed 911 from my mobile phone and CHP Dispatch answered; it was transfered to Vallejo Police Department and I was related someone would be on the way. Solano County Sheriff responded in 3.5 minutes from my initial call. I am happy to report the Sheriff Department did stop a group of young men fitting the description on Tuolumne at Ohio/Springs Rd. I am not clear if the victim was able to recover his phone, money and wallet, but did sustain several bruises to his face and arms. I still feel our neighborhoods in the area are safe...these juveniles/young adults believe these acts are funny. Who is raising these kids?? These are random acts of violence, cowardness and opportunists. We should stay alert, vigilant and keep reporting any and all suspicious activities or events. It is important to know and talk to your neighbors to build strong communities and let delinquents, thugs alike they are not welcomed here.
