Vista Garage Sale 6/5/2010

Rich, Can you "mass email" the following announcement please, so any late comers can be included for the Vista Garage Sale on 6/5/2010.   Hi Everyone, the dead line for getting your name included is Wednesday 6/2.  I have to place our ad and plot the maps with all addresses.  Please also let me know if you are making a donation at the end of the day to the Benicia Vallejo Humane Society (they will swing by after 3pm.)  If you do not let me know if you are making a donation, they will skip your house.  Please drop off your sign up and your $5.00 donation by 6/2 evening!!!!  Anyone dropping off their sign up after this date will not make the 'map of garage sales."  Drop sign ups and donation at Julie Lyons' house 326 El Camino Real.   Thanks! Nieghborhood Alert!!!!!!!

Hi,  Recieved this morning, please keep a look out for things like this. I think we should thank our Police for the prompt response and our neighbors did all the right things. Thanks, Rich   Saturday Dear Rich, I'm sorry to report that a neighbor's home in the 100 block of Camino Alto was ransacked Friday afternoon between approximately 2 pm and 2:30 pm.  The owner returned home to spot two African-American youths wearing hoodies in the living room.  The criminals ran out the back patio doors and jumped the wall to La Crescenda.  Apparently they entered the back yard through an unlocked side gate and forced a patio door. The home was not monitored by an Alarm System. Police response was superb with two cars and a motorcycle officer on the scene quickly, but the criminals disappeared with numerous valuables.  The owner, who had just stepped out for an hour, reported that the youths had emptied drawers and closets.  The police went door to door speaking to neighbors and looked in the back yards of adjacent homes until they were called to another incident. Later in the day, an alert neighbor spotted two youths who had returned to the scene to look in the shrubs for valuables that had been abandoned during their escape.  He called 911 and the owner.  Police response was again superb and at least one of the criminals was captured at or near Vallejo High School with stolen property in his possession.  The investigation is proceeding and the officers plan to pursue leads at Vallejo High on Monday.    I left a voicemail message with Superintendent Renaldo Santa Cruz asking for his assistance in identifying all students who were truant Friday afternoon or who left the school grounds at or before 2 pm.   I will let you know when he returns the call.

National Night Out Update

Hi,  Great news according to Harold and Barbara Thompson the first block of Loma Vista has said they will host the National Night Out Block Party on Tuesday August 3RD. The Thompson's and the events committee will be coordinating the event. The thing we need all participants to do is make sure when the invites come out is that you RSVP, last year we had lots of people show up that night and we were not quite prepared for that amount of people. I will let you know what the particulars for the event will be, and thanks to the Thompson's and the Loma Vista neighbors. Upate on National Night Out

Hi,  As most of you are aware the first Tuesday August 3rd, and for the last 5 years the neighbors on the 200 block of El Camino have hosted a block party for us. The have decided that another block needs to take over for this year, if you and your neighbors can host we need to know now. If you need help the events committee can give advise and maybe help. I know it has been very successful in the past and hope some block can step up. We do have the funds for the start up and we always have it least broke even on the event.  Again if anyone is interested please get back to me, if not I would hope that you have small block parties with your neighbors.
